NEW:  The Lesbian and Gay Bar Association of Chicago Foundation Scholarship is currently in partnership with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office to offer a scholarship grant program to recommend law students for summer break and spring and fall semester internships with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. An internship is a great opportunity to obtain hands-on legal experience and work closely with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. You can read more about it and the application process HERE

Law Clerk Program

The program is highly competitive due to the hands-on, challenging and relevant work experience law students will be exposed to. We have a team of prosecutors who have earned nation-wide recognition for excellence, have a passion for public service and strive to seek justice for the People we serve. Law Clerks are paired with one of these outstanding Assistant State’s Attorneys to learn from the best prosecutors during their clerkship.

The Clerkship Program is designed for law students only. Clerkships are offered in the summer and during the academic year. We accept applications year-round and interview candidates on a rolling basis. We post opportunities with the local law schools periodically and generally participate in on-campus interviews. Read more information on a 711 license and potential funding HERE.

Once we have reviewed your materials, all qualified applicants will be contacted for a phone or in-person interview. Students are asked to rank where they would like to work for informational purposes only. We will make every effort to assign a student to their desired location but based on the high volume of applications we receive, it may not always be possible. Students will be assigned based on their relevant experience, convenience, and needs and availability of the office.

A completed application consists of the following:
