Relief Dispatcher

Reports to: Supervisor/Felony Review               

Location: 2650 S. California

Classification: Grade 14/Full-time/Union

Primary Function:   

To cover dispatch shifts during dispatcher absences/scheduled days off. Dispatch incoming calls to the appropriate Assistant State’s Attorneys assigned to the Felony Review Unit and providing administrative support when needed.  

Hours:            

Schedule provided one week in advance.

            Sunday - OFF

            Monday – OFF

            Tues-Friday- 8:00am – 4:00pm (or as assigned)

            Saturday 4:00pm – 12:00am 

**The work schedule and days off will fluctuate based on operational need.**

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Answer, log and update all call information on digital FRU Dispatcher Log Sheets
  • Dispatch case information to ASA’s assigned to that shift
  • Assign search warrant numbers per requests made by ASA’s
  • Complete the FRU ASA ON-Call roster sheet for the next dispatcher
  • Dispatch Assistant State’s Attorney’s to appropriate police area
  • Responsible for tracking the location of all FRU fleet cars, cameras and Jet Packs used during the shift
  • Enter VSI/FI’s into the Video Database
  • Maintain VSI log book
  • Maintain State’s Attorney’s Office work product sheets
  • Maintain search warrant book
  • Prepare subpoenas, memos and other correspondence
  • Conduct CRIMES research when needed in order to locate case information
  • Serve as relief dispatcher as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Interaction:

  • Interacts regularly with State’s Attorney Office Employees
  • Interacts with various law enforcement agencies and departments
  • Regular access to confidential information

Qualifications:  The candidate must have excellent communication skills both oral and written. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task required. Proficiency in Microsoft Word applications, Clerks, ICLEAR and CRIMES preferred. Typing speed of 50+wpm preferred.
